Friday Happy Hour: KGNU x Junkyard Social Club (5.8.26)

I’m psyched to announce that we’re teaming up with KGNU for Friday Happy Hour at the Junkyard Social Club on May 8th!

Once again we’ll be joined by Kennedy from Home Call Crafting who will host a pop-up painting class / art jam while KGNU’s @the_only_smith joins KGNU DJ and Happy Hour host Duck La Rock at the controls.

Interested in learning to DJ?
Already DJ but are curious about using a controller?

Come by the booth to chat with B.Smith and Duck La Rock! They’re happy to show you the ropes, answer your questions, and might just invite you to do a transition or two. 😉

KGNU DJs and other volunteers are especially encouraged to attend!

Friday Happy Hour @ Junkyard Social Club (4.10.26)

Join us at the Junkyard Social Club on Friday, April 10th for a very special happy hour! Two Hands Paperie will welcome you to a pop-up collage session while our guest DJ Triptonite cuts it up on the turntables alongside your host, the Superstar DJ Duck La Rock.

DJing lives within an artistic tradition that – like collage in the visual arts – depends on the combination and juxtaposition of materials that are, “ready at hand.” Scissors, paper, and glue are replaced by turntables, records, and a mixer, but the goal is the same: to make something new out of something old. To use old ideas and forms to create new ones.

And, like collage, DJing is something that anyone can learn! That’s why each month we set up the DJ booth so you can see what we’re doing, ask questions, and see what DJing is all about. Come say hi!

Some collage materials will be provided (magazines, paper scraps, and ephemera) but BYO scissors, glue stick, and special collage materials from your secret stash. The first 20 people receive a special collage scrap pack courtesy of Two Hands Paperie!

Friday Happy Hour @ Junkyard Social Club (3.20.26)

Trying new things can help us grow, both as individuals and as a community. At this month’s Friday Happy Hour we’ll be joined by @Home Call Crafting’s Kennedy Lawless, who will lead a drop-in painting class and art jam while our guest DJ, the one and only M3dium of Boulder’s beloved House of Fire parties, returns to the controls for his second Happy Hour appearance.

And as always, feel free to join us at the DJ booth to look, watch, and ask questions! Both M3dium and your host, the one and only Duck La Rock, are glad to show you the ropes!

Friday Happy Hour @ Junkyard Social Club (2.6.26)

Get on down to the super sound at the Junkyard Social Club’s Friday Happy Hour on Friday, February 6. This month Duck La Rock is joined by guest DJs Niklii and Druubiidoo of Turntable Tuesday at Vision Quest Brewing for an all-vinyl session.

Aside from its OG aesthetic, playing vinyl can help give new DJs a more tactile or embodied understanding of how we play and manipulate recorded sound in real time than using a digital controler might. “The medium us the message.” – M. McLuhan

As at our last party, we’ll be set up at one of the Junkyard’s big wooden tables with chairs and space to hang out, talk, and watch the DJs do their thing.
